About Us
Hi! We’re Jonathan and Melissa, proud Evanston residents who love supporting local businesses, building community, and uncovering everything this amazing city has to offer.
Around Evanston started as our way to stay connected to everything happening in the city we love and to help others do the same. Whether it’s finding the perfect weekend activity, discovering a new favorite local business, exploring fun things to do with our son, or celebrating the unique events that make Evanston special, we wanted to create a resource that brings our community closer together.
We’re both data scientists with master’s degrees from Northwestern University (Go ’Cats!) and bring over 15 years of combined experience in the field. Melissa also serves as president of Traffic Jam! Swing, a Chicago nonprofit dedicated to swing, lindy hop, and jazz-era dances, where she has extensive experience organizing and promoting dances, concerts, and workshops.
